Bosch Rexroth makes light work of tightening

Designed to maximise comfort and ease of use, even in hard-to-reach areas, pistol-grip nutrunners in the new ErgoSpin ESM range from Bosch Rexroth feature lightweight yet robust construction, and have an integrated LED spotlight that brightly illuminates the tightening area. Activated by pressing the tool's start button, the spotlight can be programmed to operate for 1-99s, and can also, if necessary, be disabled.

The new nutrunners are available in versions with torque ranges of 2.4- 12Nm and 5.0-25Nm. The 12Nm models are offered with a choice of a 1/ 400 square output drive or a quick- change chuck. The 25Nm models can be supplied with either a plain 3/800 square drive or a 3/800 square drive plus a Hirth tooth system for use with accessories such as central nut tightening jigs.

The ergonomic construction featured by all nutrunners in the new ErgoSpin ESM range is said to ensure high-user acceptance and helps to minimise operator fatigue, thereby boosting productivity. Further, productivity gains are said to be made possible by the durable construction of the new tools that incorporate non-contact angle and torque sensors and which are designed to operate for at least one million cycles at full load without requiring maintenance.

The new ErgoSpin ESM nutrunners are fully compatible with cables and controllers in the extensive Bosch Rexroth System 300 family of tightening products. They also offer the convenience of “plug-and-run” operation. This means that when a nutrunner is connected to a controller, it is automatically recognised and configured and so non-productive set up time is virtually eliminated.

Tightening systems incorporating the new nutrunners can be readily configured to provide, for example, full control over tightening rate and torque, and over the total angle through which the nut rotates during the tightening process. The functions of the buttons on the tool can also be configured to meet the user's exact requirements. In addition to this System 300 controllers can capture and store data, allowing full traceability to be achieved.
