Article Type: Equipment and software From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 80, Issue 5

TAG Aircraft Interiors Ltd (TAG-AI) are offering high-quality designer seats and sofas (Figure 1) for a variety of large and midsize business jets through an agreement with B/E Aerospace. The couture line of designer seats and sofas will be available to completion centres from B/E Aerospace, exclusively in conjunction with interior design contracts between TAG-AI/Versace and their clientele.

Gianni Versace S.p.A of Milan, Italy and TAG-AI joined forces in April 2006 to create an exclusive interior design service for private jet owners. Versace Design is responsible for content, design and style, while TAG-AI manages the logistical and technical aspects of the interior design contracts, and acts as the marketing and sales agent. Versace’s move into VIP aircraft interiors is a logical extension of the house’s expertise in home interior and fashion design.

“We are pleased to be working with B/E Aerospace, the world’s leading manufacturer of cabin interior products and designs,” said Bijan Khezri, Managing Director of TAG Aircraft Interiors. “B/E is famous for its global reach to exclusive clientele and supplies more than 70 per cent of all executive aircraft seating produced world-wide. This arrangement is a logical step towards meeting our objectives and reaching, on a larger scale, those jet owners who demand the exclusivity of Versace-inspired completions.”

For the initial collaboration, the team decided to use the patented ultimate comfort technology (UCT), a new B/E Aerospace passenger comfort seating system that perfectly balances functionality, reliability, style and comfort. The FAA-certified system complies with stringent 16G seating regulations. The seats feature UCT’s intuitive ergonomic controls, including a 360° swivel capability, and Versace’s unique luxury and craftsmanship: a clean approach to design, high-end materials, leathers of the finest quality, exquisitely embroidered classic Greek key motifs and high-lustre metal surfaces.

B/E will unveiled the first product of the new collaboration at the recent 2008 European Business Aviation Convention in Geneva, Switzerland. “The ability to couple the superior performance of the UCT seating line with the exceptional styling and interior design services of TAG-AI will set the bar very high for the industry,” Khezri added.
