The 9th International Human Resource Management Conference 2007

Changes in Society, Changes in Organizations, and the Changing Role of HRM: Managing International Human Resources in a Complex World

June 12-15, 2007

Tallinn, Estonia

The modern world is increasingly facing radical and rapid change in the nature of the international social fabric. As broad social changes occur at an ever-increasing pace, organizations must adapt within this context, and workers must change within their own organizations. All of these have major implications for the way we manage the human resources of firms, especially in the international arena, where such complexities become especially pronounced.

In 2007, the 9th IHRM Conference will be hosted by The Estonian Business School and The Cranfield Network on Comparative Human Resource Management (Cranet).

Papers appropriate to this conference can deal with any topics relevant to the management of human resources in international contexts, but we especially welcome papers dealing with the nature of change as we enter the twenty-first century. Papers that deal with complex change across levels of analysis are also especially welcome, as are dynamic models of the IHRM function.

The eight preceding IHRM conferences have been held approximately every two years, in Singapore, Hong Kong, England (Ashridge), Australia (Gold Coast), USA (San Diego), Germany (Paderborn), Ireland (Limerick), and Australia (Cairns). The IHRM Conference Secretariat is chaired by Prof. Ben Shaw (Bond University) and the Secretary is Dr Paul Davidson (QUT) (p.davidson@qut.edu.au).

IHRM2007 will take place in Tallinn, Estonia, the capital of a country that has undergone dramatic change in less than two decades. Since, achieving independence in 1991, Estonia has moved rapidly from older Soviet models of commerce into the modern world of international business.

Interested participants should submit a proposal according to the guidelines on the conference home-page: www.ebs.ee/ihrm2007. All papers should be submitted electronically as Word files. All submissions should be e-mailed directly to Prof. Phil Benson, Program Chair, New Mexico State University, USA: IHRM2007@bae.ad.nmsu.edu.

All papers, posters and symposia should be submitted by January 15, 2007. Notification of acceptance of proposals will be on or near March 1, 2007. Final copies of papers for the Conference Proceedings are due April 1, 2007.
