We are growing and expanding! Cross Cultural Management: An International Journal has become a part of the Emerald family of publications which presents us with a unique opportunity to reach a much broader audience within the field of comparative and cross cultural studies.

Management today is almost by definition cross cultural. That is to say, it is virtually impossible to be a player in the marketplace without looking at and trying to understand and communicate across vast value, attitudinal, and expectational differences.

What works in one part of the world may or may not work in another. It is only by studying the various impacts that our national and cultural values, communication patterns, philosophies and value structures have that we can begin to work together in the global economy which is the reality of today. What kinds of mental constructs do business people from one country use when they are decoding another country's business proposal or vision? What values are dominant? What constitutes ethical and moral behavior within a culture? How do mangers and workers think differently within their cultures?

All of this and more has been what the journal has been aboutand will continue to be about but with the bigger audience and larger Emerald family, we look to expand into other areas of related interest as well.

Let us move forward!

Samuel M. Natale
