This meta-analysis of individual patient data concluded that long-term (five-year) mortality was similar following coronary bypass surgery (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Patients with diabetes and those aged over 65 had lower mortality after CABG. The conclusions were likely to be reliable for patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease for whom either CABG or PCI was a reasonable option.
