Rogers Corporation files complaint against Taconic

Rogers Corporation has announced that it has filed a complaint, in the Federal District Court of the District of Connecticut, against Taconic Advanced Dielectric Division of Petersburgh, NY, formerly known as Taconic Plastics. Taconic is a subsidiary of Tonoga Limited, based in the Republic of Ireland.
The complaint alleges that Taconic is infringing claims of Rogers Corporation's US Patent 5,506,049 ('049) entitled, "Particulate filled composite film and method of making same", which was issued on 9 April 1996. Rogers believes that Taconic is infringing Rogers '049 patent by making and offering to sell Taconic's CER-10 product.
This action relates to the manufacture and sale of high frequency circuit board laminates, which, unlike most types of printed circuit board laminates, are specialty materials. Rogers manufactures specialty laminates for making printed circuits that are used in wireless communication equipment, including commercial transmitters, receivers, pagers, and telephones, and for communication circuitry in high performance or military transmitters, receivers, radar, and guidance systems.
Robert D. Wachob, Rogers senior vice president for sales and marketing, commented: "The validity and value of our intellectual property is very important for our rapidly growing business in the wireless communication field. While Rogers prefers not to be litigious, we when necessary are fully prepared to protect our property, and will do whatever is required to enforce our patent rights."
