Editorial

Welcome to this issue of Circuit World, the first of 1999.

As the Managing Editor of the journal, I would like to bring to your attention the multiple access benefits which are being introduced to Circuit World this year.

As always, you will receive four issues of the familiar, portable, easy to use and easy to archive printed journal for current awareness and browsing.

However, in 1999 full paying subscribers will also benefit from hi-speed access via the Internet across the whole of your subscribing organization at no extra cost (not available as part of PCIF membership subscription). You also have full text access, via the Internet, to all articles published in Circuit World since 1996. Electronic access allows any number of people within the organization to use the information simultaneously. It saves time and trouble for the librarian and user as the material can be networked to any suitable PC. The journal is always available without the risk of vandalized or missing issues. Access your subscription at http://www.emerald-library.com

If you need assistance to access this journal online, please telephone the Technical Helpdesk at MCB on +44 (0) 1274 785278 or e-mail: tech-helpdesk@mcb.co.uk

And finally, new for 1999 is the E-mail Alert Service, notifying you of all new articles published online. To join this service completely free of charge, simply log on to the service via http://www.emerald-library.com, complete the form provided and specify which journals are of interest. Subscribers can even choose to be informed of forthcoming articles in journals, which do not form part of the current subscription.

This multiple access package makes a single subscription hundreds of times more valuable. Paper and the Internet are used in complementary ways to provide optimum flexibility, ensuring that subscribers get the most from their subscriptions.

I would like to remind you that the Editor of Circuit World, Dr John Lau is always pleased to receive papers for possible publication in the journal. If you would like to submit a paper and require further details please contact me on +44 (0) 1274 777700; e-mail: caplin@mcb.co.uk. Alternatively you may visit the journal's homepage on the MCB Web site at http://www.mcb.co.uk/cw.htm or view the "Notes for contributors" at the back of this issue.

Finally, thank you for your interest in Circuit World throughout 1998. We look forward to your comments and contributions in 1999.

Cathy Aplin
