Valor launches ODB++ gateway format for fast third party EDA integration

Keywords: Valor, Software

Valor Computerized Systems Ltd, specialists in DFM and CAM software for the PCB manufacturing market, have launched the ODB++ Gateway, which provides a common, simple format by which data can be transferred between CAD systems and ODB++.

ODB++ was developed by Valor, and is a high level, intelligent and completely open PCB CAD/CAM data format that contains, in one single database, all aspects of PCB design essential to manufacturing success. It is firmly becoming the de facto standard in the PCB industry, with electronics OEM design departments and leading PCB fabricators, at more than 500 sites worldwide, adopting it as their data exchange standard of choice.

The new ODB++ Gateway format provides a simple and convenient way for any CAD vendor to interface with Valor's DFM Enterprise 3000 toolset, without having to create a full ODB++ database file. ODB++ Gateway has been designed specifically to move the maximum knowledge about the physical model of a PC assembly from the CAD layout database into the ODB++ database of Enterprise 3000, the leading DFM analysis tool in use today. Once inside Enterprise 3000, the data can be further enhanced with DFM analysis results, electronic notes, work forms and flows, to provide the basis for full vertical integration between PCB design, fabrication and assembly.
