DDi Corp. has formally accepted its first CREO, thermal direct imaging (TDI) system and purchase of the second unit for immediate installation.

Encouraged by the outstanding performance demonstrated by the TDI system installed at DDI's Anaheim site, the company has placed an order for a second unit to be installed at the same site immediately. The new systems enable DDi to produce ultra fine-line patterns with remarkable accuracy and line-width control, utilizing their existing wet process equipment.

According to Bruce D. McMaster, CEO of DDi, CREO's system provides DDi with all the advantages of other LDIs by eliminating the use and inherent limitations of films in the production process and it also delivers advantages unique to TDI.

"The combination of CREO's thermal liquid resist and proprietary square spot laster technology allows DDi to better serve the ultra fine-line PCB market", said McMaster. "The superior impedance control levels and registration accuracies achieved by the new system has far exceeded the expectations of our customers. As a full service provider and technology leader, the capabilities of the TDI system reinforce our position as a primary provider of time-critical, technologically advanced PCBs and as a leading supplier of high-density boards."

McMaster added he "was impressed by the remarkable commitment, dedication and skill demonstrated by the CREO support team. Their professionalism and thorough understanding of PCB manufacturing processes made the incorporation of this innovative technology with DDI's existing workflow and production lines fast, efficient and productive".
