Keywords Siemens, Sanmina

The Siemens Automation and Drives Group (A&D) is to grant a share of 49.9 percent in its subsidiary Inboard Leiterplattentechnologie GmbH & Co. KG to the US company Sanmina Corporation. Siemens A&D will retain the majority. Inboard, spun off on 1 October 1999 as a 100 percent subsidiary of Siemens A&D with headquarters in Karlsruhe, wishes to expand considerably following a successful first year of business, and offer its services to new customers through Sanmina. Investments of more than $50 million are planned at the Siemens industry park in Karlsruhe in the next three years. The $50 million is to be tripled within the same period, and the number of employees more than doubled from the current number of 380. Sanmina, with headquarters in San Jose, California, is active in the PCB production and placement sector, and primarily supplies telecommunications and computer companies world-wide.

The Inboard Leiterplattentechnologie GmbH & Co. KG is active in the development and production of PCBs using standard technology and Simov technology (Siemens multi-layer surface wiring). PCBs serve in every electronic device as the carrier for the components, and are therefore the basis of every function. Inboard is the technological leader world-wide using the Simov PCBs containing integral resistors. In the first year as an autonomous company, Inboard achieved sales of approximately 50 million and increased the number of employees from 350 to 380.
