MV Technology Ltd launched the VIA-10 at the EPC 2000 show in Maastricht, Netherlands. The company claims that the VIA-10 is the world's first automatic inspection and measurement system for blind and through-hole microvias.
The VIA-10 is already successfully deployed in the US and Asia as a CAD driven, in-line, high-speed, high-accuracy, through-hole and blind-hole inspection and measurement system designed for use in the printed circuit boards (PCBs) manufacture.
The VIA-10 is a dual camera system in which the cameras are moved by a high accuracy linear motor system over the PCB being inspected. The PCB is imaged by a series of views taken while the camera is stationary. The images are digitised and then analysed by the proprietary vision software while the camera is being moved to the next inspection/measurement position. It is a process control tool for drilling or plating areas and does not require a special operating environment. The VIA-10 uses drill data only to program and provides board or batch results over a factory network.
