The IPC California Circuits Association (CCA) has announced the establishment of the Larry N. Velie CCA Educational Scholarship program.

The program, named in honor of the late Larry Velie, is designed to provide California students or college-bound individuals with a monetary contribution toward a diploma or degree program at a community college, technical school, college or university.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be an employee, spouse or a child of an employee of a California printed wiring board (PWB) manufacturing company or of a company supplying the PWB industry or a consultant.

Velie, founder and president of Velie Circuits, a past IPC chairman, board member and Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame award winner, was also one of the participants in the groundbreaking IPC National Technology Roadmap in 1993 and a cofounder of the Interconnection Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

"This is a perfect way to remember Larry", said Dick Crowe, executive director of CCA. "His commitment to the industry is well documented, including launching of the IPC Designers Council and forming of the PWB Presidents Council steering committee. The scholarship is a way to fully honor his many achievements and commitments to industry education and training."

Applications for the Larry N. Velie CCA Educational Scholarship will be available through Sue Coughlin, IPC industry programs administrative assistant, at +1 847-790-5334 starting 15 January 2001.

For more information on the scholarship contact IPC media relations manager Clint Gendusa at +1 847-790-5371.
