AvW Group gains Oblak for Management

The new manager of the Austrian AvW Group is Reinhold Oblak. The Corinthian-born Oblak will start his new duties in April 2005. The past 6 years, Mr Oblak functioned as company spokesman for AT&S. AvW CEO Wolfgang Auer von Welsbach describes Oblak as “the best possible candidate”.

“Reinhold Oblak has a strong personality with extensive experience and excellent contacts. He will be taking on the public relations aspect of AvW in an effort to define the essence of the entire group's image. Mr Oblak is and has always been the best possible candidate for this job. I am extremely pleased that he will now be joining our management”, said the CEO of the AvW Group (AvW Management Beteiligungs AG) Wolfgang Auer von Welsbach.

Starting in April 2005, Oblak will be responsible for the divisions of strategy, public relations and marketing. The designated member of management has stated his first goal to be the establishment of an incomparable presence of the AvW Group in the public eye. “We are bringing in excellent profits, growing strongly and are dedicated to further expansion. Furthermore, we offer successful investments. The key is to communicate this externally in a clear and comprehensible manner. I am looking forward to this challenge.”

Oblak was company spokesman for AT&S for the last 6 years. Profit was made through experiencing the expansion of the circuit board manufacturer into Asia. “My greatest advantage, however, was the opportunity to work side by side with AT&S CEO Willi Dörflinger. I've learned a great deal from him in the past years. In the meantime, we've become friends.” As Dörflinger is leaving the company in the summer of the coming year, says Oblak, the door is open for him as well.

Reinhold Oblak also made news in another fashion some weeks ago. On 19 October, together with his climbing partner Gerhard Pilz, he stood as the first Austrian atop the summit of the Himlung Himal (7,126 m) in Nepal. The main sponsor for this first Austrian expedition to the difficult 7,000 ft climb was the AvW Group. As a passionate mountaineer, Oblak has led several privately organised expeditions in the Himalaya.
