Building on its growth in the media and entertainments sector, contract electronics manufacturer Exception EMS, has signed an agreement with Cintel International, to outsource the assembly of its latest film scanning product, diTTo. The contract is worth in the region of £1.1 million.

Cintel is a world leader in the design, marketing and distribution of post- production scanning equipment for the motion picture and broadcast industries. The Hertfordshire-based business offers film-scanning technology for transferring film into video or digital formats.

Having previously undertaken manufacture in-house, the increasing complexity of new product designs prompted Cintel to outsource the production of its systems, enabling it to concentrate on added-value functions such as design, marketing and after sales support.

As part of the contract, Exception EMS undertakes the complete build of the standalone diTTo system, which includes the assembly of metalwork, complex precision engineered parts and high technology printed circuit boards. Calne based Exception also undertakes alignment testing prior to delivery to Cintel.

diTTo is a super-2K pin-registered film scanner and produces the highest quality file outputs, very quickly, at low price. As a pin-registered model, diTTo is able to hold the film in place very precisely, creating a very high quality image.
