Purpose – points out that reading books of fiction offers opportunities for learning and self-development. Design/methodology/approach – discusses how reading novels can develop knowledge about the world, offer ways of understanding experiences that are likely never to be experienced personally, and offers new ways of thinking about things that have been experienced.
