Purpose – Urges learning and development consultants/small businesses to become involved in corporate social responsibility projects. Design/methodology/approach – Explains the advantages of being seen to be a socially responsible business and discusses how it should be handled. Draws on the example of his own company’s work in an initiative to provide e-learning to health workers in Kwa Zulu Natal to illustrate his arguments. Findings – Underlines that corporate social responsibility projects should be linked to the organization’s goals and strategic plan but stresses the benefits that can be gained by even small firms.
