Purpose Presents the rankings of the world’s top companies for leaders. Design/methodology/approach Reports how companies are increasingly taking leadership development seriously, describes Fortune’s compilation of a list of the top companies for leadership development, carried out jointly with Hewitt (human resources outsourcing and consulting firm) and RBL Group (consulting firm). Quoting senior personnel involved in leadership development at the top companies, examines the reasons they give for prioritising executive training and identifies the nine practices that the companies share, which allows them to create world-class leaders. Provides information on the best practices adopted by the top ten companies in the listings; puts forward a regional breakdown showing where the companies headquarters are located; lists the top 20 global companies. Features an interview with Geoff Colvin (American Express) on the steps that he took to develop leadership; outlines how three non-business organizations approach the issue of leadership development.
