Purpose – describes how to adapt training methods and learning environments to the individual needs of trainees. Design/methodology/approach – based on the Jungian analysis of personality types, discusses the type of environment that will suit introverts and extraverts; the different learning styles that people have and how these affect training design; the different preferences that people have concerning the content and structure of training; and how temperament affects learning styles. Findings – underlines that the different personalities and learning preferences of trainees will mean that trainers need to be able to tailor their training to meet their needs.
