Purpose – Considers whether management turnover expectations influence their attitude towards implementing Continuous Management Training (CMT). Design/methodology/approach – Suggests that companies are discouraged from investing in CMT due t the fact that mangers believe that employees may leave in the near future making the training redundant. Drawing on the Theory of Human Capital behaviour, examines whether companies attitudes towards CMT are influenced by expectations of turnover. Presents a relevant literature review; outlines a number of hypotheses including, among others, that turnover expectation is negatively related to company readiness to run CMT; tests these on data collected from 300 companies based in the Basque Country in Spain. Findings – Highlights how no significant relationship was found between the expectations of management turnover held by the company and its readiness to engage in CMT. Highlights how the absence of this relationship was caused by the need for management training, which took precedence over the risk of management turnover. Research limitations/implications – Cross-sectional research design; research into more specific components of training, CMT readiness and managers. Originality/value – No claims for originality .ISSN: 0958-5192 Reference: 38AF816
