Forecasts how work and organizations will change over the next 15 years, looking at the external forces that will shape them and what their impact will be. Lists five forces that are changing the face of work: technological developments in mobile communications and computers; globalization and the new countries that are emerging as powerful economic forces; demographic change and increased life expectancy; societal trends and the increase in individualism and mobility; and low-carbon developments. Argues that these will result in three major changes: people will have to develop their skills and make that they stand out individually; people will need to be able to network effectively; and the quality of life will be more important than financial gain or consumerism. In relation to organizations predicts a new focus on transparent and authentic leadership, high-performing virtual teams, social capital and business networking; partnership between consumers and entrepreneurs, and flexible working.
