The THANET scheme: training the mechanical technician engineer
Abstract
A combined operation by engineering firms in South East England, Thanet Technical College, and the staff of the Engineering Industry Training Board in the region has produced a new course of first year off‐the‐job training for technician engineers which may well prove to be a useful model for the whole of the industry. It is a specialised course devised to meet the needs of trainees identified from the start as potential technician engineer material.
