The Learning Community

Abstract

This article describes the evolution of an unusual model of management development for district council housing department managers in south east England. The paper takes stock of the experience; it attempts to draw together the disjointed strands of philosophy, principles, practice and results, and it seeks to contribute to the debate on how best to further manager/management development in British institutions.
