Abstract

The rapid advance of plastics technology in the 1960's has given rise to a number of new manufacturing industries especially created to exploit the practical application of plastics in a wide range of products and components. One such industry is grp (glass reinforced plastics) engineering, where various types of synthetic resins and glass fibres are combined to create a lightweight, corrosion‐resistant material with great structural strength. The combination of these properties has led to grp being used to replace conventional materials such as wood and metal in an ever‐increasing number of applications.
