TREATMENT OF CORROSION ON AIRFRAMES
Abstract
Corrosion and cost of rectification With all the precautions and treatments that are taken to prevent or retard corrosion in new aircraft, unfortunately, once in service it become a continuous maintenance problem. Prior to the introduction of the B747, we operated two different types of jet aircraft. Approximately 40% of the cost of a major overhaul on one of these types, can be attributed directly to the correction and prevention of corrosion, whereas only 20% is attributed to the other aircraft type.
