Abstract

Corrosion resisting rolls in Meehanite Picture right shows Meehanite rolls produced by Oy Tampella AB, Finland, which are used for the flaking of calcium chloride. The roll shells of 2.04m diameter × 2.65m long, alone weigh 6.79 tonnes prior to machining. Since the chemical works, which uses these rolls is located at the coast, the rolls are cooled by sea water so good corrosion resistance is essential. The castings are therefore cast in a corrosion‐resisting grade of Meehanite, Type CC.
