Abstract

Since the mid 1950s, considerable use has been made of cathodic protection for pipelines in the United Kingdom. It is now a well‐established method of combating corrosion. However, some of the changes in practice that have taken place since the early days are open to question and some of the misconceptions remain. The following review will hopefully assist those who have a lesser or infrequent involvement in the subject and may provoke thought by full‐time practitioners.
