Communications Forum: The Import Tariff System and its Implications for Trades Routeing

Abstract

The transport route used is one of the variables in international marketing. This short paper will discuss the impact on the choice of route resulting from two factors—namely, the use of c.i.f. values (values including carriage insurance and freight) for tariff liability purposes; and the act of joining a customs union.
