Technical training sparks industrialisation in American South
Abstract
The dedication this year of a new £1 million ($2·9 million) technical school to serve a six‐county area surrounding Atlanta, Georgia, marks a dramatic shift in educational emphasis in the American South. Until now, the bulk of occupational training funds went into agriculturally oriented programmes, despite the fact that less than one fifth of the students taking such courses ever subsequently worked on farms.
