Abstract

I have often wondered why the Germans, so methodical and precise a people, failed to make more use of their womanpower during the last war, especially in the military sphere. I am sure their womenfolk went regularly to Kirche, and the Herrenvolk saw to it they were bent double over the stoves in their Küche. But their productive efforts, except for that percentage working in factories, stopped short at Kinder. On the other hand, our women were employed much more widely and to more effect than those of any other European country — and nobly they responded.
