The Men

Abstract

Having investigated both the NCB training facilities and the local educational provision, we turned our attention to the men. Below we print two extracts from discussions held with both younger and older miners. Their attitudes, which we found typical, remain the most serious obstacle to further recruitment in the industry — and, though perhaps justified, the most depressing.
