Abstract

THOUGH NOT WITHIN THE PROVINCE of the Corporation, Jordanhill College of Education has very close links with the city that serves it with schools. Not only is it linked to the city's ETV system, but it also dominates much of the city physically. Set in 50 acres of land, it is the largest college of education in Europe, and the only further education training centre in Scotland. The vast, hopeful main building dates from 1921, and together with three extensions and two annexes, houses over 3000 full‐time students between the ages of 17 and 55. Sixty per cent of the students are women and the overwhelming majority are drawn from Scotland.
