The two cultures
Abstract
Ten years is a long time to sustain an academic quarrel. If the participants have not — after a decade — conceded some points, modified their overall position, and agreed to differ, it would appear to be counter‐productive for an outsider to intervene. Indeed observers may feel this article is an intrusion into their private grief at the sight of a public squabble between two fine men.
