Abstract

The new Careers Service Advisory Council, which will advise the Secretary of State for Employment about the running of the local education authority Careers Service, is now in operation. Under the chairmanship of John Golding MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Employment, the Council has discussed the training requirements for Careers Officers and the work of the Service at a time of high unemployment among young people. The Council includes representatives of both sides of industry, local authorities, teachers, and Careers Officers.
