Abstract

There are not many shopping centres in Belgium but such as there are have an imaginative approach to the question of promotion. One of them puts on a major cultural exhibition regularly; another features youth orchestras. The Belgian dancer, Bejart, took a beginner's dancing class on a shopping centre mall. Perhaps more importantly, shopping centres in Belgium are moving ever closer towards ‘integral planning’ — integration with the community, a principle well established with shopping centres in Sweden. This article is taken from M. De Bodt's paper to the World Conference on Distribution.
