Tesco and Sainsbury: Fraser and Debenhams
Abstract
Two pairs of companies with similar trading patterns are discussed in this financial feature — Tesco and Sainsbury, Fraser and Debenham. Progress of the last two groups indicates that, although department stores might be thought to be losing their share, Debenham and the House of Fraser can still perform reasonably well in an uncomfortable retail environment. The overseas tourists, of course, have helped.
