Abstract

Polyester‐type resin requiring no heat or pressure. A new self‐curing process consisting of the application of a resin to a pretreated reinforcing material has been introduced by Messrs. Trylon Ltd. The resin, which is of the polyester type, is applied cold to the laminating base, either cotton fabric or glass mat, and cures in 10 to 15 min. The ageing period for optimum strength is up to 20 days, depending on temperature, humidity, etc. An automatic rise in temperature of the moulding will occur during the curing period, so no application of heat or pressure is necessary. Plastic laminates may be made varying in size from minor repairs to substantial mouldings such as boat hulls.
