Abstract

The severe wastage of steel generally found to occur in gasworks can be attributed to the presence of the usual conditions which enhance electro‐chemical corrosion. Any steelwork in such a location may be exposed to soil, air or water, and any one of these or a combination of them can produce severely corrosive conditions which, in a short space of time, will have drastic results.
