Abstract

Packaging Corrosives with Vermiculite. So great are the corrosive powers of bromine, a liquid three times heavier than water, that on coming into contact with organic materials such as wood or sawdust spontaneous combustion may occur. Developed from sea‐water and natural brine by oxidisation of bromide salts with chlorine, bromine gives off irritant vapour and the liquid itself can cause serious burns.
