Abstract

The largest turbo‐electric passenger ship ever built in the U.K. and the largest ship built here since the war, the 820‐ft.‐long, 45,270‐ton Canberra, belonging to the Orient and Pacific Lines, is this month on her maiden voyage. Many original ideas were introduced to the world of shipping in her construction. Some of the measures taken to minimise corrosion are described.
