Abstract

The new materials laboratory opened last month was designed and built by the Ministry of Works to meet a pressing need of the Building Research Centre, Garston, Herts., whose chemical research facilities were formerly accommodated in a variety of obsolescent buildings scattered about the Station. The importance of corrosion research to the building industry as a whole is reflected in the attention being paid to the subject in many of the departments, both in the new building and other parts of the Station. Close co‐operation exists with other research organisations, and work includes special investigations for individual firms who contribute to the cost.
