Abstract

Sherardizing is a method of producing a uniform zinc coating on iron and steel, mainly on small components. It is extensively used for certain types of articles, but there are still many other components with either the wrong finish or no protection at all which could be considerably improved, at an economical price, by sherardizing. The object of the following notes is to point out the characteristics of the coating and to give guidance regarding the type of articles for which sherardizing should be specified in order to give an effective protection against corrosion.
