TWO METHODS OF PLATE PROTECTION: —steel pretreatment by etching or metallic coatings?

Abstract

Laboratory experiments and large‐scale field tests over a number of years have enabled a Scottish firm of primer specialists to compare the relative merits of metallic coatings with a fully developed etching‐type pretreatment. Most of this company's work has been in the direction of ships plate but it is also applicable to the bulk of ferrous substrates.
