Abstract

The Modern Language Association of America recently sent a circular to all its members, beginning, “Where would you look if you wanted to find articles, written in Spanish, documenting speech pathology in six‐year‐old children?” For myself, I would have to answer “I don't know,” and in the back of my mind lurk Rhett Butler's famous parting words to Scarlett O'Hara. No doubt any scrap of knowledge is preferable to complete ignorance, but creative research requires that the same mind frame the questions, recognize the answers, and perceive their relevance.
