Abstract

CONSIDERABLE interest attaches to the engine fitted in the Vultec monoplane used by Richman and Merrill in their remarkable flights across the Atlantic in both directions during the first fortnight in September. The engine is one of the 1,000 h.p. Wright Cyclone R‐1820 G series, which has until quite recently been on the secret list of the U.S. Army and Navy Air Services, and is the first of its type to be allowed to leave the United States. Though details are only now released for publication, the engine has been in production since the beginning of the year and 600 of them have been installed in the new Douglas and Boeing bombers for the Army Air Corps.
