Kinetic Energy and Pressure: A Wide Subject with Particular Application of Aeronautical Interest

Abstract

A LITTLE more than two years ago—in August, 1936, to be precise—we published an Aeronautical Research Committee report going back to the fundamentals of engine cooling and providing a theoretical basis for the low velocity cooling used in the ducted radiators which had then just made their first appearance in the Hurricane and Spitfire monoplanes for the Royal Air Force. That report dealt primarily with the cooling aspect of the problem and did not profess to go closely into the details of the design of the ducts.
