Abstract
THE various systems of braking are still undergoing intensive investigation, particularly covering schemes of control, methods of operation and design of brake units. While considerable improvements have been effected all round, the actual brakes offer much scope for advancement and, as in automobiles, the attention of designers has recently been focused on the construction of disk type brakes and on the advantages that may accrue from their adoption.
