Abstract

A set of matched laminated‐wood rotor blades are made with the same shape and weight characteristics, laminations located at corresponding positions in the respective blades being made of similar wood, so that the characteristics are maintained under varying conditions of humidity and temperature. In the case of a pair of solid blades as shown in FIG. 1 corresponding laminations such as 25,35 are made by splitting a single plank into two similar portions. Alternatively, a single plank may be cut to provide several pairs of laminations, such a method ensuring that the laminations have matching grain structure and moisture absorption properties and that the completed blades possess similar warping and weight‐changing characteristics under all climatic conditions.
