Abstract

This is the second volume of a scries sponsored by the American Rocket Society under the general title of Progress in Astronautics and Rocketry. The object appears to be publication of recent technical papers presented at symposia or conferences so that up‐to‐date research and development data can be quickly disseminated. While this is commendable, it is not always outstandingly satisfactory. Too often the material has no sound foundation and can only be regarded as of passing interest. This may not be important to the specialist who can bring a critical knowledge to the subject, but can be confusing and misleading to the less expert.
