Abstract

DESPITE the inclement weather during the early part of the week, and the renewed vigour of the critics, the 1961 S.B.A.C. Flying Display and Exhibition was an unquestioned success. A record number of 9,000 important visitors from abroad accepted invitations to attend, not least of them being delegations from Russia and Communist China. A number of firm orders for aircraft and ancillary equipment were placed during the Show week—although it is always difficult to determine whether these announcements are the result of careful planning—and the industry established many new contacts with prospective customers overseas.
