Abstract

There can be few weight, structural or aircraft performance engineers who have not made recourse to Shanley's work on optimum design. The new Dover Publications' paper‐backed edition marketed at well below half the price of the original is un‐doubtedly a good investment and particularly suitable to the aeronautical engineering student's pocket in a field which is becoming more widely taught in en‐gineering education.
